1 Thessalonians 4:16,17

The Lord Himself shall descend from heaven. Jesus said he would come “in the clouds of heaven” “sitting on the right hand of power” Matthew 26:64. His disciples were told that he would “come again in the same manner” as they saw Him go into heaven (Acts 1:11). “Every eye will see Him” Mark 14:62. “All the tribes of earth will mourn” when they see Him coming (Matthew 24:40,41. Jesus will be “revealed from heaven with His mighty angels” 2Thessalonians 1:7-9. The wicked will be “consumed and destroyed with the brightness of His coming” 2Thessalonians 2:8.

The heavens shall pass away with a great noise, the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth and its works shall be burned up. The land lays desolate, sinners are destroyed and the Lord makes the earth utterly empty, a waste. 2Peter 3:10; Isiah 24:1-6. He will come “as a thief in the night” 1Thessalonians 5:2,3 unexpected but not silent nor in secret. And “then sudden destruction” Isaiah 13:9,10. There will be no second chance. “One will be taken and the other left” Luke 17:34-36. You do not want to be taken! When the disciples asked, “Where?” (the location of those that were left was known: in the field, grinding, in bed; the unknown was where they were taken). Jesus answered, “Where the vultures are gathered together.” Revelation 19:17,18 describes their carcasses as food for the birds. The tares are gathered first, bound in bundles to be burned at the End of the World (Matthew 13:30). Then the wheat, that which remains, that which is left behind, is gathered.

The Son of God will shout with the voice of Michael the Archangel. “Awake and sing, you who dwell in dust” Isaiah 26:19. “All who are in the grave will hear His voice” “and they that hear shall live” John 5:28,25. “Many that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake” Daniel 12:2. “Not all shall sleep” 1Corinthians 15:51. “But we shall be changed at the last trump, when the dead shall be raised” “then shall this mortal put on immortality” 1Corinthians 15:52-55. Graves will open, God will put His spirit in us and we will live (Ezekiel 37:13,14). “The dead in Christ shall rise first.” “Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.”
